“Most people just keep saving. Not because they need to, but because nobody told them that they could stop.”

Manitoba rules that shape your plan

Manitoba has three provincial tax brackets, no probate fee, and no provincial tax on small business income. These are the 2026 figures we plan around for Manitoba clients.

Income tax in Manitoba, 2026

Manitoba taxes income at 10.8% up to $47,564, 12.75% to $101,200 and 17.4% above that. With the federal 33% top rate, the highest combined rate is 50.4%, on taxable income above $258,482.

Probate in Manitoba

Manitoba eliminated probate fees on November 6, 2020. An executor may still need a grant of probate from the court, but no fee is charged on the value of the estate. The larger costs at death are usually the tax on registered accounts and capital gains.

Corporations in Manitoba

Manitoba charges no provincial tax on active business income up to the $500,000 small business limit, so the combined rate is the federal 9%. Above the limit, the combined rate is 27% (12% Manitoba and 15% federal).

Financial advice in Brandon: common questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often.

Yes, by video. Kaetyn works with clients across Canada, and meetings can be held virtually anywhere in Manitoba. If you would rather meet in person, meetings are held in Calgary.

There are no hidden fees: we explain every cost before you commit to anything, including our advisory fee and fund costs. Investment management is fee-based, as a percentage of assets under management, and financial planning and insurance services may have separate fee structures. The first conversation is a free, no-obligation review.

For 2026, the highest combined federal and Manitoba rate is 50.4%, on taxable income above $258,482. Manitoba's own rates start at 10.8% on the first $47,564. The Canada tax calculator works it out for a Manitoba resident.

Deferring CPP from 65 to 70 increases the payment by 42 percent, permanently and indexed. For a healthy high earner with capital to bridge the gap, deferral is frequently the highest-return, lowest-risk decision in the plan. The CPP calculator compares start ages from 60 to 70.

Credentials, registration and plain answers about fees. Kaetyn holds the CFA, CIM, CIWM, FCSI and CEA designations and is a representative of Designed Securities Ltd., regulated by CIRO and a member of CIPF. Ask whether the advisor plans across your personal and corporate accounts or only manages investments.
