What wealth management covers

Customized portfolio strategies built around your goals, risk tolerance and tax situation. Investment management is one piece of the plan, so every portfolio decision is made with your taxes, insurance and estate in view.

Portfolio construction

Personalized investment portfolios built around your goals, risk tolerance and tax situation, designed for decades, not quarters.

Asset allocation

Risk-managed asset allocation with broad exposure across asset classes, geographies and sectors, to reduce risk and capture global growth.

Tax-efficient investing

Strategic asset location, tax-loss harvesting and rebalancing, so each investment sits in the account where it is taxed least.

Corporate portfolios

Corporate investment portfolio management for business owners and incorporated professionals, with the passive income rules in view.

Retirement income

Tax-efficient withdrawal strategies and withdrawal sequencing to minimize your lifetime tax.

Alternative investments

Alternative investment evaluation, judged as part of the whole portfolio rather than on its own.

Monitoring and reporting

Ongoing portfolio monitoring and reporting, regular reviews and rebalancing, and an annual update as your life evolves.

How we invest

Portfolios designed to grow steadily over decades, not chase short-term performance. The approach is grounded in evidence, guided by discipline and built around your life.

Time in the market beats timing the market. We build globally diversified portfolios grounded in academic research, not market predictions or hot stock picks.

Broad exposure across asset classes, geographies and sectors to reduce risk and capture global growth.

Fees matter, but value per dollar matters more. We focus on minimizing unnecessary costs while investing in the expertise, planning and strategies that actually move the needle for your wealth.

Strategic asset location, tax-loss harvesting and withdrawal sequencing to minimize your lifetime tax. One example: US dividends paid into an RRSP are generally exempt from US withholding tax, while in a TFSA 15% is withheld and cannot be recovered.

How we work together

Four steps from the first conversation to a portfolio that is managed as part of your plan.

Step 1

Discovery

We start by understanding your complete financial picture: income, assets, goals, concerns and timeline. This is a listening session, not a sales pitch.

Step 2

Analysis

A detailed analysis of your current position: tax efficiency, investment allocation, insurance gaps, estate structure and retirement readiness.

Step 3

Strategy

A comprehensive, personalized plan with clear recommendations, projected outcomes and prioritized action items.

Step 4

Partnership

Implementation and ongoing management. Regular reviews, proactive adjustments and guidance as your life evolves.

The full timeline, week by week, is on our What to expect page.

Wealth management questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often.

Banks typically offer limited product shelves and advisors who manage hundreds of clients. We provide independent, unbiased advice with access to a full range of investment solutions. You get a dedicated advisor who knows your situation deeply, not a call centre.

Absolutely. Many of our clients came to us looking for a second opinion. We'll review your current holdings, fees and strategy and give you honest feedback, even if that means telling you to stay where you are.

We believe in long-term, diversified, low-cost and tax-efficient investing. We build globally diversified portfolios grounded in academic research, not market predictions or hot stock picks. You can learn more on our Philosophy page.

We operate on a fee-based model. For investment management, fees are based on a percentage of assets under management, which aligns our interests: we do well when you do well. Financial planning and insurance services may have separate fee structures, which we'll always explain upfront.

No. We'll explain every cost before you commit to anything: our advisory fee, fund costs and any other charges. You'll always know exactly what you're paying.

Robo-advisors are good at one thing: putting money into a diversified portfolio. They can't tell you whether to pay yourself salary or dividends from your corporation, how much insurance you actually need, whether an IPP makes sense, or how to structure your estate. And they don't call you when you're about to panic-sell in a downturn.

We generally work with clients who have $500,000+ in investable assets or a household income of $200,000+. That said, we're happy to have an introductory conversation regardless. Sometimes the right time to start planning is before you've accumulated significant wealth.
